5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 14

Learn to be a nature photographer, a water base-paint and used oil round-up and the Calabasas Farmers Market.

  1. An experienced nature photographer will teach a class on Saturday at King Gillette Ranch on how to take great photos of the outdoors. The class begins at 2 p.m. and admission is $7. Meet at the parking lot to left of pond.
  2. A water base-paint and used oil round-up will be held at City Hall on Saturday from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.
  3. It's Saturday once again and that means it's time for the weekly Calabasas Farmers Market. Stop by Calabasas Road just west of El Canon Avenue between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and check out dozens of vendors selling everything from fruits and veggies to meat and desserts.
  4. Tickets are on sale for the first ever Calabasas High School Cheer Benefit Concert. The cheer squad from Calabasas High, Thousand Oaks High and Birmingham Charter High will perform at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Calabasas High's student store and at the door for $10.
  5. Today will be mostly sunny with a high of 73, according to the National Weather Service.
