5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 1

Free yoga at the library, Pumpkin Patch Story Time and windy weather.

  1. A free lunchtime yoga class will be held from noon to 1 p.m. at the Calabasas Library. The course, dubbed "Yoga and You" will be taught by yoga instructor Deanne Wenger. Bring your own yoga mat or a large towel and a bottle of water. All levels are welcome. For more information, call 818-225-7616.
  2. Friday is the last day to submit nominations for the annual Carl Gibbs Environmental Excellence Award. The honor recognizes business or nonprofits that have done work in the city of Calabasas that resulted in "cleaner air or water, less waste, less traffic, conservation of energy and natural resources, efficient and water conserving landscaping, or reduced use of hazardous materials."
  3. Pumpkin Patch Story Time is being held at 1:30 p.m. at the Calabasas Library. Once a week, kids ages three to five can stop by and hear stories read by librarians and afterwards participate in arts and crafts activities.
  4. Today will be windy with a high of 63, according to the National Weather Service.
  5. The Kiwanis Club Calabasas-Agoura and nonprofit Learning Through Doing Adventures is hosting its 4th Annual HOPE for Kids & Familes Holiday Drive through Dec. 15. Drop off toys, video games, sporting equipment, books and clothes at the following locations:
