5 Things You Need to Know Today: April 30

Fine arts festival, open house at wildlife center and farmers market.

  1. The annual Calabasas Fine Arts Festival will be held today and Sunday at the and the Calabasas Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days.
  2. will host an electronic recycling event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bring your old omputers, laptops, TVs, monitors, LCDs, VCRs, computer components, stereo components, printers, copiers, scanners, cell and telephones, cables, wires, surge protectors, modems, routers and fax machines. Drop off will be located in front of the school. Event will benefit Las Virgenes Unified's campaign, a fund raising effort to help teachers keep their jobs.
  3. It's Saturday once again and that means it's time for the weekly Calabasas Farmers Market. Stop by Calabasas Road just west of El Canon Avenue between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. and check out dozens of vendors selling everything from fruits and veggies to meat and desserts.
  4. The will have an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Program includes tours, wildlife education, children's activities and a chance to get up close with rescued animals. Event is free.
  5. Today will be windy with a high of 88, according to the National Weather Service.
