Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada, for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the field of government accounting and financial reporting. Attainment of the award represents a significant accomplishment.
In addition, an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement has been awarded to Sandra Hicks, director of Finance and Administration for LVMWD.
In order to earn recognition by GFOA, the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) is judged by an impartial panel to affirm it meets the standards of the program, including a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” intended to clearly communicate the agency’s financial story and to motivate interested parties to read the report, which is available online at www.LVMWD.com.
“We appreciate the recognition of our efforts by GFOA,” said LVMWD general manager David W. Pedersen. “We have a strong commitment to transparency in our operations and the CAFR is another method we use to inform the public that we are using their resources in a responsible manner.”
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving over 17,000 government finance professionals, with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
