Sports Bar Replaces Spumoni, Kinda

The signs for the Italian restaurant may be gone, but customers can still order their favorite Spuomni dishes in addition to a sports bar menu.

signs may have been replaced with ones that read the Canyon Sports Grill & Deli, but that doesn't mean the Italian restaurant is gone.

Spumoni's management split the restaurant three weeks ago into two eateries: a sports bar by the entrance and a separate dining room in the back where patrons can still order from the Spumoni menu.

"We're trying to keep two restaurants in one, we didn't want to lose our Spumoni customers," said manager Gustavo Oroxon.

Oroxon said there was a local demand for a sports bar, so extra TVs were added to the main dining room and the bar was expanded. There's a separate Canyon Sports Grill menu with items like the the Malibu Canyon burger or the Pepperdine Wave burger along with sports bar staples like sliders and buffalo wings.

"We did it because of customers," Oroxon said.

But those still wanting a more quiet or private dining experience at an Italian restaurant can slip past the glass door in the back that separates the two dining rooms, he said.
