Gasoline Price Is Creeping Up Again After Long Decline

Costs have risen for the third consecutive day after a 57-day streak of decreases.

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose Sunday for the third consecutive day after a 57-day streak of decreases, increasing 1.2 cents to $3.726.

The average price fell to its lowest amount since Jan. 4 on Thursday, then rose six-tenths of a cent on Friday and 1.6 cents on Saturday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The three consecutive increases have pushed the average price 1.6 cents above what it was one week ago. However, it is 30.5 cents less than one month ago and 8 cents lower than one year ago.

The Orange County average price rose Sunday for the third consecutive day after dropping 56 times in the previous 57 days, increasing 2.2 cents to $3.693.

The Orange County average price fell to its lowest amount since Jan. 1 on Thursday, then rose 1.1 cents on Friday and 1.7 cents on Saturday. It is 3.5 cents more than one week ago, but 28.7 cents less than one month ago and 9.5 cents lower than one year ago.
