Gas Prices on the Rise

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the 16th time in 17 days, increasing 1.7 cents to $3.837, its highest amount since Nov. 15.

The average price is 3.9 cents more than one week ago, 10.8 cents higher
than a month ago and 42.9 cents greater than a year ago, according to figures
from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has risen 9.3 cents over the past 17 days, including eight-tenths of a cent on Thursday.

The Orange County average price rose today for the 20th time in 22 days, increasing 1.8 cents to $3.827, its highest amount since Nov. 13.

"Southern California drivers are getting no relief from price hikes as we head into the spring, which in prior years has been a season of spiking gas prices,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. "Consumers need to keep in mind that gas prices can be unpredictable, but they can reduce their fuel usage by driving gently, properly maintaining their vehicle and primarily driving the household vehicle that gets the best fuel economy.''
