Coming Soon: Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co.

The eatery, which offers an 'eclectic American' menu and is known for its award-winning beer, is expected to open in October at the Summit at Calabasas shopping center.

Patrons seeking more dining options, or a wider beer selection, will have a new option on the west end of town come October.

That's when the Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co. is scheduled to open in the new Summit at Calabasas shopping center at the intersection of Agoura and Lost Hills roads.

This will be the second Wolf Creek location. Rob and Laina McFerren opened the first one 13 years ago in Valencia.

The new project is being spearheaded by Wolf Creek Restaurant & Brewing Co. President Darren Utley, who went into partnership with the McFerrens in 2008 with the idea of expanding on the success of their initial venture. The Simi Valley native, who has had a profitable career in the food service industry, including being the first Baja Fresh franchisee, said he always knew that the Conejo Valley would be a great market.

What's special about Wolf Creek, Utley said, is that just about everything on its "eclectic American" menu is made in-house, from salad dressings to desserts.

And that also goes for the beer, which will be brewed at the Valencia location and then brought to Calabasas. Rob McFerren is Wolf Creek's brewmaster and is known for his award-winning Howlin' Hefeweizen Ale and Golden Eagle Ale.

Jay Duncan, owner of restaurant builder Duncan Construction, says this one is going to be special.

"It will have a Colorado woodsy lodge look," Duncan said as he showed a Patch reporter around, pointing out soaring ceiling beams that will be exposed and a rock wall that starts on the outside of floor-to-ceiling glass windows and continues inside the restaurant.

The large outside patio has a huge fire pit and is situated near a water feature that will lend a little credence to the word "creek" in the restaurant's moniker.

In addition to bringing fresh new food and beverage options to Calabasas, Wolf Creek will also offer employment opportunities.

"It's so positive to have this new entry to the community, particularly on the west side of town in such a beautiful new shopping center," said Carol Washburn, executive director of the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce.

Though a firm grand opening date has yet to be set, Duncan said construction is actually a little ahead of schedule.
