Classic Hollywood Memorabilia Going to Highest Bidder

Calabasas-based auction house is gearing up for a winter auction that will feature iconic and historic memorabilia from numerous classic movies.

Want to get that movie buff a truly jaw-dropping gift for the holidays? 

Calabasas-based Profiles in History will hold an auction on Friday and Saturday dubbed, simply, Auction #43, that's filled with 1,300 pieces of cinematic memorabilia. The event, which begins at noon PST, will be at the Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills, 8440 Wilshire Boulevard.

But be prepared. For the die-hard film geek, you may have to write a six-figure check.

What's up for grabs? How about a movie poster for the 1933 classic, The Invisible Man valued at over $200,000; Johnny Depp's Edward Scissorhands costume  estimated to be worth between $100,000 and $150,000; Brandon Routh's Superman costume; and models of Santa and his reindeer from Miracle On 34th Street.

Bids can be placed in person, via mail, phone, fax or live on the Internet by visiting Profiles in History's Web site or on ICollector.

In addition to the aforementioned iconic props, costumes and set pieces, the auction will feature items created by filmmaker Tim Burton, including stop-motion puppets and artifacts from The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride, James and the Giant Peach, Sleepy Hollow and Mars Attacks! Also up for bid are the collections of Academy Award-winning visual effects geniuses Phil Tippett, Stan Winston and Richard Edlund, (featuring pieces from landmark films such as Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Terminator, Jurassic Park, and Edward Scissorhands).
