Lupin Hill Blood Drive Postponed

Donors are needed to help ill children get the blood they need.

UPDATE: Due to forecasted rain on Sunday, the Lupin Hill Elementary carnival and blood drive have been postponed to April 1.

The Children's Hospital Maxmobile will make a pit stop at on Sunday during a school carnival to collect blood donations.

The mobile blood unit is scheduled to be at the school from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is named after Max Buelow, a Lupin Hill student who succumbed Ewings Sarcoma in 2006.

Kyrsha Wildasin, the parent of Logan, a first grader who is being treated for leukemia, says blood donations are more important than ever.

She said the number of blood donors dwindled from 60-75 to about 25 last year.

"This is a very tangible thing, come give blood, you're helping someone," Wildasin said.

Those interesting in donating blood must be at least 17 years old, weight 110 pounds and be in good health.
