Celebrate Arbor Day in Calabasas

Help plant oak trees on Saturday at Gates Canyon Park.

Residents are invited to plant oak trees at this Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon in honor of Arbor Day.

The holiday, celebrated worldwide, originated in 1872 with the goal of dedicating a single day to planting and caring for trees.

Volunteers have planted oak trees at Gates Canyon Park on Arbor Day for nearly a decade. In addition to planting new ones, volunteers can check out how much trees planted years before have grown.
