Pipeline Project to Commence in July

The following information is a press release from the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District

Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD) will soon begin work on permanent repairs for a 10-inch pipeline on Calabasas Road between Park Granada and Commons Way.

The project should be completed in August.

In order to minimize the effects on businesses and traffic in the construction corridor, work will be done during night-time hours between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The project will use a process known as “slip lining,” where a new flexible line is fed through an older, existing pipeline. This method greatly reduces the need for excavation compared to an open-trench pipeline replacement.

Water customers in the construction zone will continue to receive service through temporary water lines during the course of the project.

“This project reflects the District’s commitment to providing reliable service," said David W. Pedersen, LVMWD general manager. "We discovered the original line installed along Calabasas Road had reached the end of its service life, far ahead of the time it was expected to last. We appreciate the cooperation of the City of Calabasas in ensuring that the work is completed as quickly as possible.”
