Oliver came to us at the Agoura Shelter on Feburary 15th when a homeless encampment was disbanded and the residents were placed in safe facilities.
Unfortunately the dogs couldn’t go with them, so we were lucky enough to have Oliver come to us. After living in a street community and not knowing anything but that life, Oliver slowly made the transition to being cared for in a warm, comfortable, safe place with regular healthy meals and proper health care.
A beautiful white and tan Papillion mix with the darkest brown/black eyes, we think Oliver is about two years old. When he arrived at the Shelter it was clear he needed a lot of TLC. His medical care was funded by the Malibu Pet Companions, and the wonderful care and attention he has gotten at the shelter has helped get him more socialized, but he is still timid and a bit scared.
He is calm, gentle, and allows himself to be handled and bathed, and occasionally he lets the other dogs know he’s here with a few barks. Oliver is not interested in treats, but is at ease sitting next to you or on your lap and being gently pet.
The vets have given Oliver a clean bill of health (just this past week), he is neutered and ready to find his permanent home. He should thrive in a household that will give him the time he needs to come into his own.
He will need to be housebroken and it will do him good to be socialized gradually. He’s probably a bit too shy to be in a household with little kids all around, but in the right home, he will learn that everyone loves him and respects him, and just wants to be friends.
Oliver’s Identification Number is ID A4543979 and you can come meet him at The LA County Animal Care and Control Shelter in Agoura Hills, at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit http://animalcare.lacounty.gov
