Registration Opens for Summer Nature Discovery Camp

Mountains Restoration Trust announces that registration is now open for the 2012 summer sessions of Nature Discovery Camp. Each camp session offers a different environmental focus to introduce young naturalists to the wonders of nature through crafts, labs using scientific tools, guided discoveries, hikes, games and interactive guest speakers. “Nature Discovery Camp opens up new areas of interest for children and connects them to the healthy outdoors in fun and protected surroundings,” said Youth Naturalist Program Director Susan Haugland. “We help them develop an appreciation of nature and a sense of stewardship for their environment.” Discovery Nature Camp is designed for ages 8 – 12 years and is held in two sessions, Mondays - Friday, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. 

Session 1: July 16 – 20; Reptiles and Amphibians, Birds, Endangered Species, Native American, Field Trip to Malibu Lagoon

Session 2: July 30 – August 3; Insects, Reptiles & Mammals Conservation, Outdoor Survival, Paleontology, Field Trip to Tapia Park for crayfish collecting (a conservation effort to restore the creek)

Cost for the camp is $270/week.

Camp is held at the historic Masson House at Headwaters Corner Interpretive Center at Calabasas, 23075 Mulholland Hwy, Calabasas, CA 91302. Enrollment is limited and pre-registration is required.
