Thursdays’ Hot Country Nights at the Sagebrush Cantina has turned the restaurant’s outdoor patio into a popular scene of boots and buckles with country fans shuffling and kick stepping to some of Los Angeles’s hottest country bands. Fans can now also get their “Sweet Home Alabama” high on weekend afternoons at the Cantina’s County BBQ, held on the last Saturday of each month starting in September.
Helping to launch the new event in August was Go Country 105.1
morning radio DJ Shawn Parr. He entertained fans while teaching them some of
the latest line dance moves, posed for pics, and gave away prizes.
“It’s fantastic the cantina is doing this,” said the
energized Parr to the crowd, “What a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon.” After
getting the crowd line-dance ready, Parr joined Tina Michelle & the
Rhinestone Cowboys on stage, playing drums for a tune. The cantina introduced
its country BBQ buffet with grilled
meats, vegetables, corn, and mac & cheese. The country crowd also enjoyed
spiked lemonade drinks and draft beers.
The cantina’s country parties have turned Josie Dobin into a fan. The Mission Hills resident frequents Thursday evenings and says she’ll now look forward to Saturday, too. She likes Tina Michelle & the Rhinestone Cowboys, which will be the afternoon house band playing a wide selection of country hits. “I didn't get into country in the small stuffy bars but being here, being outdoors, there’s atmosphere, space and good food. All you need is a little rhythm to have a lot of fun.”
Country afternoon BBQ’s are the last Saturday of each month, from 1 to 5pm, and will feature line dancing lessons, giveaways and special guests. All-you-can-eat BBQ buffet is $14.95. Admission is free. All ages welcome. Hot Country Nights are every Thursday with line dancing lessons at 7:30 pm and the band performing at 8:00 pm.
