Blog: Teaming Up for Locks of Love and More

Fashion forward salon makes eco-friendly ties with Calabasas local

Suzy Cameron, an eco advocate and Board of Directors president for MUSE schools, and Raychel Harrison, owner of Salon Nuuvo in Calabasas, recently teamed up for Locks of Love in hopes to raise awareness for disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Taking the bold leap to cut off ten inches of her hair, Suzy Cameron decided that after two years of growing her hair out in hopes to donate it, the time had finally come for a much needed haircut. After all, it had been quite some time since a pair of scissors had even seen or touched her hair last. So without further hesitation, Suzy walked in to Salon Nuuvo with the goal of helping a better cause. What she didn’t know, however, was that she not only would walk out with a lighter head of hair, but also a newfound friendship and her next plan to develop an eco forward movement.

Within a few moments of meeting, Suzy and Salon Nuuvo owner, Raychel, began discussing what each as an individual and partner hoped to accomplish not only for themselves, but their community as well.

"MUSE is derived from the Greek Gods and the 9 muses, which are all about inspiration," stated Suzy.

Both Salon Nuuvo and MUSE schools hope to inspire people, and more importantly our youth, to be more mindful in thinking and healthy in one’s own lifestyle. Each carries a personal philosophy to live consciously within yourself, one another, and the planet. Their message for youth is to treat every aspect of life with integrity and honesty and to be socially responsible for every action taken with the hope of educating others along the way.

Raychel Harrison states, "Our goal is to raise awareness and be amazing at what we do as hairstylists."

Advocates for a Green future, Suzy and Raychel value wholesome living, and you may undoubtedly find yourself wanting to be a part of their revolution.  Keep an ear out for these two, and mark your calendars for 12/12/12, as they will be launching a new innovative way of thinking. Will YOU be there to join the movement?
