The newest salon in town is named the best in Calabasas.
Salon Nuuvo was named the best hair salon in this week's Readers' Choice poll. The business garnered 78 percent of votes in the poll that asked readers to pick the best business in Calabasas for getting a stylish do. Salon Nuuvo opened earlier this year at the Summit and Calabasas and is run by Raychel Harrison. One Patch reader praised Harrison and her staff saying: "Salon Nuuvo has become my new go-to salon. It features the best coloring system accompanied with the most friendly and talented team of artists." Congratulations, Salon Nuuvo!

Southland gasoline prices have risen for the fifth consecutive day.
The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose today for the fifth consecutive day, increasing 1.2 cents to $4.386. The increases stem from record low gasoline inventories and continued refinery issues that "may resolve itself in the next week," according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California. The average price is 15.4 cents more than one week ago, 11.4 cents higher than one month ago and 14 cents greater than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. The San Fernando Valley Business Journal recently named Calabasas-based MyCorporation to a top 10 list of the region's largest women-owned businesses. The document filing service that helps new businesses get off the ground has 47 females on staff, which earned the firm the eighth spot on a list of the largest employers of women. “It was a true honor to be among such accomplished women," said MyCorporation CEO Deborah Sweeney. "It's also a validation of our services - helping to incorporate and maintain businesses. Working with entrepreneurs and seeing their businesses grow as our business continues to grow is very fulfilling!"
