The award honors those who take initiative in community activities and efforts.

Each year, the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce proudly bestows the Bill Van Gieson “Spirit of Calabasas” Award to reflect the pioneering spirit, exceptional initiative and outstanding contributions to the Calabasas community in memory of Bill Van Gieson, who is remembered for his creative leadership in developing Chamber activities.

This year’s award goes to Don Lucove; Don is extremely active in local community organizations and events. He is past Vice Chair-Finance and member of the Board of Directors of the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce.

Don is also very active in local civic activities, interacting with the initial Calabasas Old Town Business Owners coalition and lending support to city of Calabasas affairs, chairing the inaugural Mayor Recognition Dinner and serving as a coordinator, steering committee member and chair of the annual Calabasas Pumpkin Festival in October.
