UPDATED: Motorcyclist Dies in 101 Freeway Crash

An Oxnard man dies when his motorcycle rear ends another vehicle.

A 37-year-old Oxnard man was killed on Saturday when he rear ended a car with his motorcycle on the westbound 101 Freeway at Las Virgenes Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner identified the man as Ricardo Amaro Trujillo.

The accident was reported at 9:45 p.m., said CHP Officer Christian Cracraft.

A 38-year-old Thousand Oaks woman driving a 2007 Mercedes Benz had stopped on the freeway due to traffic when a 2003 Honda motorcycle rear ended her car, according to City News Service.

The collision caused the motorcylist to be ejected onto the No. 2 lane, where he was struck by a 2004 BMW driven by a 44-year-old Lompoc woman, City News Service reported.

The Oxnard man was declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles County firefighters 13 minutes after the crash was reported, Cracraft said.
