Matzah Pizza: Fresh Brothers Serving Kosher Pies for Passover

The local pizzeria is offering pizza with matzah crusts for those looking to keep kosher during Passover week.

Passover began last Friday and for those observing the week-long Jewish holiday, that means giving up many favorite foods that require yeast as an ingredient.

But one local pizza parlor is tweaking its recipe for observers who still crave a slice of pie. Through Saturday, is serving kosher pizzas with a matza crust.

"When you keep Passover, it's difficult to eat out," Fresh Brothers founder Adam Goldberg told L.A. Weekly."We always end up eating in or bringing lunch to work. So now, those who like to eat out can still do it during the week of Pesach."

It's the first year the restaurant chain is offering Passover pizza and so far, it's been a success, he said.

"We had one Calabasas customer who liked the matzah pizza so much that he ate five personal pizzas in one sitting," Goldberg told L.A. Weekly.
