Calabasas Patch Has New Editors

New co-editors Susan Pascal and Becca Whitnall look forward to working with you.

Hello Calabasas! By now, you may have heard editor Arin Mikailian is moving to North Hollywood to edit the Patch site there.

While Arin is leaving some pretty big shoes to fill, we’re hoping you’ll find us capable of doing just that.

We’re and and we’ll be editing the site together. If you read other Patch sites, you might already know us. Susan is the editor of the Agoura Hills site and Becca just launched Woodland Hills Patch. Prior to that, she served as editor in Moorpark. You can read more about us, our values and even our politics on our Patch bios.

We plan to cover many of the same things you’ve come to expect from Calabasas Patch. We’ll follow city council meetings, attend school events, check out new businesses and share stories about the interesting people and places in the community. We’ll also bring you breaking news as it happens.

But we are hoping to make one big change. We’re hoping to see more of YOU on the site. Patch is a community site, and we subscribe to the idea that news is a conversation. Much of our reporting will emanate from what readers tell us in emails, comments on our sites, our Facebook and Twitter accounts and in conversations around town, but we’re hoping much of it will come directly from you!

There are a lot of ways to contribute. Here are just a few:

Blog: Want to contribute opinions, commentary or articles on an ongoing basis? Consider starting a Patch blog. You can also write about your favorite hobby, school, your business or anything else you’re interested in. You can also share photos and video.

Post an Announcement: Post births, engagements and wedding announcements. Tell us who made the honor roll or share school awards, social notes and thank you shout-outs. If you're looking for volunteers or searching for your lost dog, we welcome you to call on your community for help. This is a great place to announce who's just got a promotion or an award your business just won. Just remember, our Terms of Use say announcements should not be for advertising.

Post an Event: Having a garage sale? Is your organization putting on an event somewhere in town? Is your church or temple organizing a food drive? If it's not on our Patch calendar, it should be. Feel free to add events to the site clicking on the Events tab at the top of the page and then on “Add an event” on the right hand side of the events page.

Comment on an Article: Share your thoughts and reactions to our articles by posting a comment directly below each one. Please click here to read our Terms of Use – and remember to keep your comments courteous and on topic.

Add Your Photos and Video: Upload videos of high school football touchdowns or your Calabasas ballerina sashaying across the stage. Post photos from local festivals, send in a snapshot of your best holiday recipes or submit photos from breaking news scenes. You can add photos and videos to most any article, event or announcement.

Review Restaurants and Other Businesses: Do you want to be the first to tell your friends whether the new restaurant in town gets a thumbs up? You can post a review of your favorite businesses on our directory. Or, search to find what you're craving — you can filter results by cuisine, price or seating accommodations, for example.

Claim Your Directory Listing: Our business and organization listings aren't skimpy. Our team of researchers actually hit the streets and visited businesses, schools, parks, libraries and more so we could provide photos as well as detailed information such as products sold and hours of operation. To contact us about the listing for your business or organization, email us at directorysupport@patch.com. If you own or manage a business or organization in our directory, you can claim it to post photos and update information. Best of all, it's free!

Send a Letter to the Editor: Have a strong opinion about something? Agree or disagree with the latest policy established by the city council? Share it with your neighbors.

Advertise With Us: For all advertising queries, please send an email to our regional publisher, David Peck, at DavidP@Patch.com.

Send a News Tip: At the bottom of the homepage, there's a link under the header "Contribute" that says, "Send Us News Tips." Tell us about issues or events you think we should cover. Your tip will be sent to Calabasas Patch. You also can send an email to Calabasas@Patch.com and it will go directly to both of us.

We hope this gives you a good idea of how to get and stay involved with Calabasas Patch. We want to provide the community with information that matters, but we can't do it without your help! As always, if you have a question, concern or news tip, just write to Susan and Becca at Calabasas@Patch.com.
