Calabasas-Based ConcertTickets.com Up for Sale
The marketing and advertising portal for the concert ticket industry has been in business since 2003.
ConcertTickets.com Inc., a marketing and advertising portal for the concert ticket industry, has been put up for sale by CEO Alan Gould.
"I've owned it since the domain name was registered in 1996 and it's always generated a decent amount of income for me over a long period of time," Gould said. "But I'm not really into the concert industry. I'm more an advertising person and would like to invest elsewhere."
In a press release issued by the company, Gould said a service provider, promoter, management team, record company, or even a radio station conglomerate could profit from the branding the website name enjoys.
He said the revenue generated by the website varies from time to time, but in the best year since it started in 2003, the site made $120,000 in advertising money, and in the worst year it made $50,000.
"Revenue changes all the time because it depends on how well the site is indexed by Google, because that's how advertisers find us," Gould said. "Earnings also change by season. From February through August, it's concert season and more tickets are sold domestically than at any other time. The economy also matters a lot."
Incidentally, the website, which operates chiefly as an advertising portal, has little to no employees. The content writing and website managing operations have been outsourced to India, and cost only about $200 a month.
Gould said in the release that he was "seeking an agency or industry insider that has both the vision and understanding of the value and branding this asset brings.
"Given the stronghold Ticketmaster had held in this space is now starting to erode combined with venues, promoters and performers looking for potential alternatives, the timing now is right. If someone wanted to create a totally unique auction site for tickets, it is arguable one could not have a better website name to do this with."
